In 1998 Kyle Gibson visited Tulsa’s first disc golf course at Riverside Park and fell in love with flying discs. After studying abroad and settling down back in Tulsa in 2012, he has focussed on bettering his cities disc golf courses. Now on the board of one of the oldest disc golf club’s, Tulsa Disc Sports Association, and Vice President of the Oklahoma Disc Golf Foundation, Kyle has honed his networking skills and coordinates disc golf activities in the region with local municipalities and other local disc golf clubs. Working as a jurisdictional coordinator for a local architecture firm has allowed him to maintain a working and personal relationship with many city engineers and parks department staff.
Graduating from Oklahoma State University with a BS in Geography has given Kyle the tools to produce thorough feasibility studies for prospective projects, allowing him to approach a new course design with a thorough understanding of any challenges that may present themselves. Most notable on his resume is his work with the Tulsa Sports Commission to produce the winning bid for the 2024 PDGA Junior Disc Golf World Championships. Hosting high caliber tournaments allows for greater networking opportunities and the opportunity to grow the sport of disc golf.
