Finland, the country where the DiscGolfPark concept was born, is getting its next flagship disc golf destination. Espoo DiscGolfPark World, a brand-new disc golf center rising in the \u00c4mm\u00e4sm\u00e4ki area of Espoo, will open its first two 18-hole courses at the end of July 2026 \u2014 the first step toward one of the most ambitious disc golf projects Europe has ever seen.<\/p>\n
A DiscGolfPark World is more than a single course. It is a complete disc golf center built around multiple courses designed for different skill levels \u2014 from beginner-friendly layouts that introduce newcomers to the sport, all the way to championship-level courses that challenge the best players in the world.<\/p>\n
When fully completed in 2029, Espoo DiscGolfPark World will feature four separate 18-hole courses across two distinct areas \u2014 the open, park-like Park Course (Blue & Red) and the wooded Forest Course (Yellow & Black) \u2014 plus two 9-hole beginner courses at the Arena Course (Green & White). On top of that, two additional 18-hole hybrid layouts (Orange & Purple) will combine holes from the Park and Forest areas, bringing the total to eight playable layouts.<\/p>\n
The first phase opens in summer 2026 with the two Park Course layouts. Park Red offers a versatile test for club-level players: 2,118 meters of fairways, par 65, with nine par 3s, seven par 4s and two par 5s, earning an AA1 course classification. Fittingly for a sport known for giving new life to unused land, the Park area is built on a former landfill site that closed around the year 2000 \u2014 terrain that drains exceptionally well and stays playable year-round, even after heavy rain.<\/p>\n
Behind the project is Espoo Flyers ry, a disc golf club founded in December 2024 specifically to build, develop and maintain the new center. The club’s lead designer and project manager is Mikko Tanska, a well-known figure in the Finnish disc golf community.<\/p>\n
The project began with a conversation between Tanska and the City of Espoo in autumn 2024. The city, which owns the land, required a long-term operator for the area \u2014 and rather than settle for a single new course, the team decided to think bigger and build an entire disc golf center. The City of Espoo is the project’s largest supporter, and the development is co-funded by the European Union.<\/p>\n
The center will operate on a pay-to-play model, with course fees funding paid staff during the summer months \u2014 a professional maintenance approach familiar from Finland’s most celebrated courses. Access remains affordable and inclusive: play is free for adults on weekday mornings (Mon\u2013Thu, 8\u201311 AM) and always free for players under 15.<\/p>\n
Espoo DiscGolfPark World sits just six minutes’ drive from the junction of the Turku motorway and Ring Road III, with 45 paved parking spaces on site. Public transport works too: bus line 243 stops 600 meters from the center.<\/p>\n
The location in Finland’s capital region, combined with a full range of courses from beginner to championship level, positions Espoo DiscGolfPark World to become both a local community hub and a destination for disc golf tourism \u2014 following in the footsteps of Finnish DiscGolfPark World destinations that have proven how much value a world-class disc golf center can bring to its region.<\/p>\n
